Chesapeake, VA: Happy Fourth of July!

The day before the holiday we trekked up north to Chesapeake, Virginia.  Despite the lengthy ten hour drive, our boys were great travelers who read books, played with their characters, and busted up laughing at each other.  Once we arrived we joined my father at his girlfriend Marilyn's house for five, wonderfully hot days.  We did have a wonderful time and it was very hot (like several 100 degrees days in a row).  Hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday.

Our first morning there (which happened to be the holiday) and the boys were already smiling.

The little pool helped them cool off. The boys have been in a super endearing phase lately to each other.

After a round of naps, the barbecue started and the party goers started to arrive.  Here Aunt Linda and cousin Nickie happily smile for the camera.

I feature a lot of brother shots, so naturally this shot fits right in.  Here is my father with his only, younger brother Stanley.  It's intriguing how many two sons families surround us: my father and Uncle Stan, cousin Nickie ended up with two boys, Sean is the oldest of two, and finally our own family comprises of Gavin and Logan.  That's a whole lot of brothers.

Bubble time!

Crabs! Laughs! Fun!

After the party died, we kept the boys up and traveled downtown for the fireworks.  The largest Navel shipyard is located in Norfolk, so watching the fireworks with these giant glowing vessels in the background made the whole night a little more patriotic.  It was a beautiful way to end such a grateful and important holiday to remember our freedoms.
