Portsmouth, VA: The Children's Museum of Virginia

This is a mega picture post as we had a blast at the newly remodeled Children's Museum of Virginia.  We needed an escape from the 100 degree day but something that could keep the boys active and entertained.  This place was the perfect answer.  We were happy to spend the day with Marilyn's daughter-in-law Amanda, her son Nathaniel (18 months) and her son Evelyn (8 weeks) too!

Our first room (and my father's possible favorite) was this impressive train room.  My father walked down memory lane looking at the tracks, engines, and cars that he had growing up and still has in his attic.  Meanwhile, the boys loved crawling through the mole holes to resurface right in the middle of the moving trains.

The next stop was the veterinarian clinic.

One of Logan's favorite words is kitty, so this guy was in heaven.

The next room was the fire department complete with a fire hydrant shooting game.

Across the hall was the library where the children could each actually take one book home; Gavin found a Peter Pan one naturally and we helped Logan pick out a new Mercer Mayer one.

Next stop was the human body discovery room.

And then the supermarket and doctor's office were right next door.

Nathaniel loved this cow.  He would just squeal when it mooed.

Out on the farm then to the grocery.

Back across the hall was the urban, instrument room where we kept sweet, sleeping Evelyn away from.

Next came the bank, a fishing tug boat, and the construction site.

The Bubble Room!

Riding the bus!

And then upstairs was this really impressive scientific exploration wing.  There were all kinds of science experiments that showcased the laws and principles of physics.  Again, it was really impressive.   Gavin seemed most curious about these contraptions.

And believe it or not, there was still another two wings to explore.  We took a break at this point for lunch then resumed the museum after.  However, I apparently neglected to take a single picture post lunch.  Regardless, the adults were exhausted so we know the boys had an awesome time too.
