Last Saturday, we took a family field trip to the Dudley Farm Historic State Park just west of the city. Sean has Dudley family on his maternal side some generations ago, so we thought his mother would shun us if we did not pay tribute to his ancestors while living in Gainesville. The park showcased the evolution of an authentic 1850-1940s Florida farm complete with staff dressed in period clothing. In fact, Gavin called one of the costumed ladies a 'princess' which just about made her month. There were also costumed musicians playing period music throughout which only added to the spirit of the farm. It was a great break from the norm for the whole family.
