One Saturday in May, I somehow convinced Sean to run a 5K with me. Since Sean is not typically a runner, I was super excited for this race. There is always joy in doing what you love with the one you love. I had not signed up for a 5K in at least two years, but I knew I wanted to set a PR this time. My body is not built speed, but rather endurance so I had to practice speed work in the weeks prior. Well, my practice paid off because I not only set a PR of 23:31 but I also placed first in my age group! I still prefer long distance running but it was fun to shake things up a bit.
My friend Julie also placed 2nd in her age group that morning, so we had some celebrating to do on the carpool ride home.

5Ks are always social races so it was fun to be there with Shelyse, Julie, and Linda. These running buddies also ran in the Savannah half marathon while I was running the full last November. And of course, it was awesome to have Sean there. He joked that he only cursed me twice in his head while running the 3.1 miles. But even on the drive home, he admitted to having a good time.
