Rock of Ages

Times Square while waiting in TKTS line
Technically our first stop in New York was to Times Square in the TKTS line for tickets to a show that night. It seemed like everyone and their mother was also waiting in that same TKTS line, so I took my place at the end while the boys got a closer look at the titles and times. Sean rejoined me in line to report his findings when his phone rang from Adam. He had disappeared to the 'Rock of Ages' box office and scored quite a deal.

Turns out Adam went to high school with the gal at the ticket office. Let's just say we were able to buy premium tickets in the third row for a fraction of the listed price. Unreal (but the story gets better)! Sean and I were beyond excited. We could not wait to rock out, since after all we are quite the concert going folks.

Here's a quick two sentence synopsis from their website:
In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA’s most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s. It’s ROCK OF AGES, an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of JOURNEY, NIGHT RANGER, STYX, REO SPEEDWAGON, PAT BENATAR, TWISTED SISTER, POISON, ASIA, WHITESNAKE and more.

Fast forwarding...curtains come down and the actors take their bow. Thunderous applause and standing ovation. We loved every minute. Here is where the story goes from good to great. Turns out Adam really is 'the' man. One of the leads in the show was once an understudy for pre-business school Adam. After the show and a call to Adam's friend, we were granted backstage and specifically got to meet him and some of the cast. While we were waiting for Mitch to appear, we snapped a few shots on stage of us and saw Adrian Grenier standing with friends. We just played it cool with a nod because we are cool like that.

Sean rockin' on stage.

Yes, those are ladies' unmentionables hanging on the wall.

With Joey Taranto who played the lead male, Drew.
We were so impressed with Joey. He had great energy and such a strong voice.

Katie Webber (Ensemble), Mitch Jarvis (Stacee Jaxx), Sean and I.
Katie and Mitch are actually an item off-stage. Oh la la! Both gave amazing performances.
Mitch is quite the comedian and one great actor.

Mitch and Adam being Mitch and Adam.

How are we ever going to top this date night?
