On Saturday morning, I woke far too early to participate in the 2011 Walt Disney World Half Marathon. What a rush! It felt great to run again after taking some time off for motherhood. And what better place to restart race running than Walt Disney World! I mean where else can you pay twice the price of a daily admission to run 13.1 miles in darkness with 28,000 others through the Most Magical Place on Earth? All jest aside, I had a wonderful run and it was worth every penny I paid.
Waking up at 3:30am, I had to tiptoe around our hotel room to get ready.

Due to heavy traffic, it took 1 hour to get to Epcot which the night before only took 10 minutes by bus. I was comfortable, warm, and able to stretch in my seat so I had no complaints. I arrived just 10 minutes before my corral (2 out of 7) started which was plenty of time for last minute preparations. It was announced that Meredith Vieira and Al Roker from the Today Show started in wave 1 but I never saw Meredith running. According to the posted race results, I passed both of them but only spotted Al on the course.
Of course, there were the usual cast of characters cheering you on as you ran past the starting line.

Saturday was also one of my best friend Tanya's birthday. Yes, I know I wished her 'Happy Birthday' twice. I was delirious from sleep and crazed with excitement. Regardless, I wanted to wish Tanya a fantastic birthday.
To be continued...
