Walt Disney World Half Marathon: Post-Race

Sean and I severely underestimated how many people would be buzzing around that morning. Remember, there were 28,000 runners plus their individual cheer squad. It was so crazy that I finished about 15 minutes before the boys even made it to the finish line; and I finished strong too. I am so grateful for my body and the blessings of health while training and running this race. I did not set any personal records (PR) nor did I run my worst time either. I heard from past runners that you should enjoy all the sights and sounds at a comfortable pace. If you run too quickly, you might regret missing stolen moments during the race. Except for the miles inside the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, every mile was filled with favorite Disney characters (available for photos and autographs) and a rockin' DJ. This was one social race!

Here I am once Gavin has finally spotted me.
Bring on the tears.

Gavin was consumed with my medal, meanwhile I was consumed with emotions. Thankfully, the hat hid my tears quite well. Moments of true, extreme happiness always overwhelm me to tears. I have a sensitive sole.

Gavin was trying to explain the medal and the race to Logan. It was precious, and of course brought on more tears.

I just adore people who volunteer to take pictures of the whole group.

Looks like I was caught mid smile, but look at Gavin. What a face!

We rode the Monorail on the way back to our hotel and I caught a glimpse of the spectators' point of view. I was quite impressed to see a steady stream of runners fill the roads, and I was quite happy to be sitting comfortably too.
What's next? A full marathon or a PR half?
