The Nation's Oldest City

Next on our agenda during the Miners visit was old St. Augustine. As a child I grew up attending summer day camp there and have affectionately visited the town since. I loved my childhood and this town played a small part of that happiness.

As for the visit, we toured the Castillo de San Marcos first but have no evidence since I was still in the car with Logan. We patiently sat by the waterfront waiting for the rest of the family.

I love Gavin's expression while holding grandma's hand.

Red roofs and Coquina are two, very unique characteristics of St. Augustine.

Flagler College. In elementary school, we took a field trip to tour this historic site and I have been infatuated ever since. When I was in school, we must have took a ghost tour of the buildings since most of the memories have to do with Henry Flagler haunting the hotel-now-turned liberal arts college.

If you need any spare change do not ask Grandma Miner. Gavin threw it all in the fountains around St. Augustine.

Do not be fooled. Gavin is a social child who never sleeps.

Here is an example of the coquina I was talking about earlier.

After touring the city most of the day, we headed to our usual beach spot. We could not let the Miners travel all the way from Utah without seeing the beach! We did not bring our suits but kicked off our shoes and just rolled up our pants.
